remoteisland is a job board for the anglophone Caribbean. Using the site means accepting what is written here. It is short on purpose.

What this site is

We collect remote job postings from employers' own career pages and applicant tracking systems, screen each one for the barriers that actually stop Caribbean applicants — work authorisation, location restrictions, language requirements, timezone windows — and publish the ones that survive, with the reasoning attached.

We are not the employer, not a recruiter, and not an agent. We do not submit applications, we take no fee from any employer, and no listing is sponsored or paid for. The employer decides who they hire.

What we can and cannot promise

Screening is a reading of what the employer published, and a posting can be wrong, stale, or changed after we read it. So:

  • We do not guarantee any listing is still open, accurate, or genuinely open to you.
  • We do not guarantee you will be hired, interviewed, or replied to.
  • Where we state a conclusion, we show the evidence behind it, so you can check our reasoning rather than take it on faith. Check it before you rely on it.

If you find a listing that is wrong or closed, report it from the listing page. That is how the board stays true, and reports are read.

Your account

Keep your sign-in link and session to yourself; anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Give accurate profile answers — they change which jobs you are shown, so a wrong answer mostly costs you. Do not scrape the site, resell the listings, or use it to send unsolicited mail.

We may suspend an account that is being used to attack, spam, or scrape the site. If we do, we will say why.

Paying

The board is free and stays free. Every listing is visible to everyone, signed in or not, paying or not. We will never put a job behind a paywall.

A paid subscription ($8 a month or $5 every two weeks, in US dollars) buys two things: alerts the moment a matching job is found rather than in the weekly digest, and the detailed match breakdown that shows which of your experience answers which requirement.

  • Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Their terms cover the transaction itself.
  • A subscription renews until you cancel. Cancel any time from your billing page; you keep what you paid for until the period you already paid for runs out.
  • If a payment buys you nothing — the service was down, or the feature did not work — write to us and we refund it. We would rather refund than argue.

Our content and theirs

Job descriptions belong to the employers who wrote them; we reproduce them so you can read the posting and link to the original. The screening, the reasoning, the site itself and everything on it is ours. Your résumé stays yours — uploading it grants us only what is needed to run matching for you, described on the privacy page, and nothing beyond it.

Liability

The site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using it — a job that turned out to be closed, an application that went unanswered, a hiring decision that went against you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

These terms can change; the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the new version.
