Supabase explicitly states 'Fully Remote' and 'We hire globally' with no geographic, timezone, or language restrictions beyond English. The company operates asynchronously across 60+ countries, and the role is open to anyone worldwide who meets the qualifications. The target user (English monolingual, Caribbean-based, UTC-5) faces no stated barriers to employment.
“We hire globally.” Geographic scope — Global hiring scope affirmed; no geographic or regional restrictions.
“We operate asynchronously and trust you to manage your own time.” Timezone — Async operation removes timezone overlap requirements; no timezone window specified.
“Communicate clearly across both technical and non-technical audiences.” Language — English communication required; no other languages mandated. Supabase notes '20+ languages spoken' but does not require any language beyond English for this role.
Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth.
We’re looking for a Commercial FinOps Lead to own the commercial and vendor-management function for Supabase. You’ll run our cloud and SaaS vendor relationships end-to-end (AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, CloudQuery, ClickHouse, and more), leading negotiations and renewals, enforcing procurement governance, and applying our VIA operating model (Visibility, Insights, Actions) to keep vendor spend disciplined and well-governed. You’ll work closely with Finance, Engineering, Legal, and our vendor partners.
This is a founding role for the commercials function. The operating model, the source of truth for vendor spend, and the standards are yours to define, against a clear position: this is a FinOps role first, not a procurement desk. You'll own the technical and analytical side of vendor management, reporting, efficiency, and the commercial interface across the company, while keeping procurement governance tight. It's ideal for someone fluent across finance and engineering, who thrives in async, fast-moving environments, and wants to build a function from the ground up rather than inherit one.
Own vendor relationships : Run our primary cloud and SaaS vendor relationships end-to-end (AWS, GCP, Cloudflare, CloudQuery, ClickHouse, and more), leading renewals and negotiations alongside Finance and Legal.
Run procurement governance : Enforce our competitive-bid process for incoming requests and manage larger procurement through our managed-procurement partner, keeping oversight and accountability with FinOps.
Drive commercial VIA : Own spend visibility and unit economics, surface licensing and usage inefficiency before it becomes a surprise, and drive renewals, right-sizing, and tooling consolidation to realized savings.
Build reporting and governance : Vendor and SaaS cost reporting is the unowned gap today and your highest-leverage area in the first year. Build the dashboards and reporting hands-on, partner with our data teams to scale them, and own the governance layer (spend policies, thresholds, accountability).
Hold the boundary on the role : You own the analytical, commercial, efficiency, and program side of vendor management. This is not a buying desk or a contracts-admin seat, and it does not take over engineering's delivery or status reporting. Procurement partners (e.g. Vertice) assist; FinOps keeps oversight and accountability.
We move fast, build in public, and use what we ship. If it’s in your project, we probably use it in ours too. We believe deeply in the open-source ecosystem and strive to support—not replace—existing tools and communities.
Straight to the employer's own application — no middleman.
Tell us and we'll mark Supabase as a company that has actually hired in the Caribbean. It's the most useful thing on this board and it only exists because people report it.
