Technical Writer Caribbean - Remote

Technical Writer is responsible for documentation of procedures, creation of process flows and operating instructions and the update / creation of forms to support the introduction of new or update of existing processes or technologies across the Bank. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining the centralised repository for all procedures, process flows, forms and job aids, etc., across the organisation and for ensuring maintenance and standardisation as per the process governance process. The incumbent is the gate-keeper for the check-in and check-out of procedures and process flows to ensure proper version control of the organisations end-to-end procedure documentation. The incumbent will also support projects, BAU and process reengineering requests for updates to process documentation or organisational forms.

Responsibilities

  • Work with scrum teams to obtain a clear understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • To produce high quality documentation that is appropriate for the intended audience, to support business continuity.
  • Create software documentation through collaboration with subject matter experts and technical staff
  • Convert complex technical documents into easy language for multiple audiences
  • Communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Analyze existing content, then improve and update current documentation, such as meeting notes, transcripts
  • Write user manuals, how -to guides for the staff receiving new solutions.
  • Incorporate animation illustration, video, and photographs when appropriate to aid user in understanding the products or concept.
  • Analyze existing content and determine how to reuse and single sourcing opportunities.
  • Create and maintain information architecture.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in information systems, information technology , computer science and other related fields. Candidates with a journalism or other writing/ communication backgrounds should have at least 5-7 experience as a technical writer in a software development organization.

  • 3- 5-year experience in writing in technical documents
  • Experience supporting/ working with agile teams
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills
  • Skills with documentation and publishing software such as Camtasia, Snag it or other similar software
  • Experience reading, creating and maintaining RESTful API documentation
  • Good work knowledge of MS office, Confluence, Jira
